Seniors to Receive Meal and Visit for Thanksgiving

For the last three years folks from the Union County Senior Center/Office of Aging and generous volunteers have delivered Thanksgiving meals and a friendly visit to seniors who may live alone, are sick, or homebound.

On November 21st, when the center delivers the meals, it will mark the 4th annual year for the program.

The meals are prepared and delivered by the center staff and by volunteers. It is all made possible by donations.

The Senior Center is looking to grow the program and add more seniors to their delivery. If you know a senior who would like a visit and a meal, please contact the office at 865-992-3292.

The senior center is also collecting canned items for their emergency food pantry. They are especially looking for soups, peanut butter, and crackers. This would be for the emergency pantry only. This is cases where home health or a social worker calls for immediate assistance. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 8a to 4p at the Union County Senior Citizens Center on Main Street beside the Maynardville Library.
